Auburn Takes NWBA DIII National Championship

The 2019 Toyota National Adult Division III Wheelchair Basketball Tournament is officially over. The best DIII wheelchair basketball teams met in Chicago, Ill. to compete for the national championships. After a tough day of competition on Saturday, the Auburn Tigers and the Ability 360 Phoenix Suns made their way to the championship game.

On Sunday, April 7, 2019, the Tigers and the Suns fought hard to take home the title. The nail-biting game kept the audience on their toes. The score stayed within three to four points difference the last two quarters. In the last few minutes, the score was tied 54-54 due to free throw shots. In the very last 16 seconds, Auburn’s Bryan Foley, 22, successfully hit the game winning 3-pointer and left the Suns with no time to catch up. With seven seconds left, no one scored again and the Suns took defeat.

The Auburn Tigers took the national championship title with a final score of 57-54.
