Hug, Scaroni Roll To Boston Marathon Titles
Switzerland’s Marcel Hug won his fifth straight Boston Marathon men’s wheelchair marathon title, while the U.S.’ Susannah Scaroni captured her second straight women’s wheelchair marathon title Monday in Boston.
They both dominated in 129th edition of the race and the 50th anniversary of the first official wheelchair finisher in Boston.

Hug, 39, finished in 1hour, 21 minutes and 34 seconds, more than 4 minutes ahead of runner-up Daniel Romanchuk of the United States (1:25:58) and Jetze Plat of the Netherlands (1:30:16). Additionally, the U.S.’ Evan Corell was sixth (1:33:35). It was Hug’s eighth career Boston Marathon men’s wheelchair division title.
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old Scaroni finished in 1:35:20, more than 2 minutes ahead of Switzerland’s Catherine Debrunner (1:37:26) and Switzerland’s Manuela Schär (1:39:18). The U.S.’ Tatyana McFadden was fifth (1:48:52). It was Scaroni’s second time winning the Boston race.
