Team USA Paralympic Update: Medal Count Rises as New Events Begin

As the Paralympic Games progress, Team USA continues to demonstrate exceptional performance across various disciplines. The American team has secured an impressive 53 medals (20 gold, 22 silver, 11 bronze), placing them third in the overall medal count.

The swimming events saw outstanding performances from American athletes:

– Leanne Smith set a Paralympic record in the women’s 100m S3 freestyle, clinching gold.

– Christie Raleigh-Crossley, in her Paralympic debut, won gold and set a Paralympic record in the 100m backstroke.

– Olivia Chambers secured silver in the 200m individual medley SM13.

 

 

 

 

 

Track and Field Triumphs

Team USA’s track and field athletes continued to excel:

– Ezra Frech claimed his second gold medal, setting a Paralympic record in the T63 high jump.

– Jaydin Blackwell matched his own 400m world record in the T38 category, earning his second gold of the Games.

– Ryan Medrano took silver in the same event as Blackwell.

– Brittni Mason won silver in the women’s T47 100m dash.

– Susannah Scaroni secured bronze in the women’s T54 1500m.

 

 

 

 

Equestrian Excellence

The Para equestrian events saw Team USA riders shine:

– Fiona Howard and Rebecca Hart both won gold in their respective individual events (grades II and III).

– Roxanne Trunnell added a silver medal in grade I.
