The Paralympic Games are in full swing, and Team USA is making its presence felt across a wide range of sports. From the pool to the court,  athletes are showcasing their incredible skills and determination.

The United States Paralympic team had another action-packed day, securing victories and adding medals to their tally across various sports.

In archery, Matt Stutzman and Kevin Polish advanced to the quarterfinals in men’s individual compound. Tennis saw Conner Stroud dominate his first-round match in men’s singles.

Athletics brought excitement with Korban Best clinching silver in the Men’s 100-meter T47. Noah Malone, who qualified for future events, expressed his ambition: “World records, gold medal, that’s what I came here to do. Tomorrow night, yeah, I’m going to put on a show.”

The women’s wheelchair basketball team crushed Germany 73-44 in their pool play opener. “Our biggest thing was to play together and play like we practice. I think when you get into these moments, it’s easy to feel like you have to do more because it’s a big stage. We knew we didn’t have to do more than we do at practice,” said Josie Alaskon.

While the U.S. faced setbacks in goalball and wheelchair rugby, Chuck Aoki reflected on their loss to Japan: “They were more composed than us. Every time we had a chance to creep back in it, we had a mental error. Credit to Japan, they played great, but we just cracked under the pressure today. It’s a good lesson for us.”

In badminton, Miles Krajewski celebrated his victory against Krishna Nagar: “It feels amazing, just because I’ve always wanted to be one. Finally being one on this stage, it means a lot that I finally accomplished my dream.”

The day’s crowning achievement came in swimming, with Gia Pergolini securing gold in the women’s 100m backstroke. The U.S. also claimed two silver medals in the pool, showcasing the depth and talent of the Paralympic swimming team.
